On 10/31, Interior Secretary Sally Jewell, gave a speech to the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. The Secretary’s commitment to balancing energy development with conservation echoes the sentiment from a majority of Westerners. But now is the time to get to work. A nearly $700 billion outdoor recreation industry is vital not only to our economy, but our quality of life. Our public lands are the reason millions choose to call the region home, and why businesses of all sizes choose to locate here.
As Secretary Jewell told us, conservation isn’t just something you fight for at a press conference, but at a budget conference. Now is the time to act. Let Secretary Jewell and President Obama know, it’s time to get to work.
