A return to wastefulness?

Submit a public comment, and tell Zinke that Americans don’t support wasting our natural gas and tax dollars for the benefit of oil and gas companies?

So here’s what happened:

FIRST Ryan Zinke voted as a Montana Congressman to undo the Obama-era rule regulating the harmful practice of methane venting and flaring, or intentionally releasing methane into the atmosphere. It was a huge victory for the West when the Senate blocked the repeal of the rule.

THEN as Interior Secretary, Zinke changed course, recently acknowledging that “flaring is a waste.” It was a rare divergence from his usual talking points, which are normally in lockstep with the interests of his oil and gas industry allies.

BUT NOW — despite Zinke’s statement — his Interior Department is still trying to impede the original methane rule!

Tell Secretary Zinke that his lip service isn’t enough. He needs to immediately take action on the Interior Department’s attack on sensible methane rules. Can you submit a public comment on the BLM website to tell him so?

The methane safeguards were put in place to prevent over $1 billion in natural gas from being wasted each year by oil and gas companies looking to maximize their profits — at the expense of American taxpayers.

Ryan Zinke should be focusing on protecting our public lands — not the profits of oil and gas companies.

But his flip-flopping on common-sense issues like preventing our country’s energy resources from being wasted show that his priorities are out of line with the priorities of the American West.

Will you submit a public comment, and tell Zinke that Americans don’t support wasting our natural gas and tax dollars for the benefit of oil and gas companies?
