What is Interior hiding? Release Bernhardt’s public documents!

Sign our petition: Demand the Trump administration release Bernhardt’s public documents!

It’s Sunshine Week and you have a right to know what Interior is doing to your public lands!

When acting Interior Secretary David Bernhardt directed subordinates to eliminate Endangered Species Act protections for the Delta Smelt and Chinook Salmon, his actions directly favored a former lobbying client: the Westlands Water District. And during the government shutdown, Bernhardt ordered employees back into the office to issue oil and gas leasing permits.

Over a year has passed since we filed public records requests for official communications between Bernhardt, his former clients, Interior officials, and other special interests. The Interior Department even ignored a self-imposed deadline to release a small portion of the public documents and provide a status report. Then they took two months to address that!

What could they possibly be hiding, Friend? Sign our petition and demand the Trump administration release public documents relating to Bernhardt’s communications with former lobbying clients and other special interests!

ADD YOUR NAME

The public deserves to know whether the acting Interior Secretary is working to preserve our public lands, wildlife, and national parks for generations to come or just doing the bidding of his former lobbying clients at the expense of our public lands.

But the Trump administration is going to great lengths to shield Bernhardt from transparency. It seems Interior would rather come up with excuses than comply with the law by releasing information that could potentially damage Bernhardt’s nomination!

Don’t let them get away with it: Add your name to our petition and demand the Trump administration comply with our public records requests as required by law!
