Pres. Trump to Meet with Scandal-Ridden Sec. Bernhardt for Private Lunch Meeting

Trump Recently Tried Defending Disastrous Record By Claiming to be an ‘Environmentalist,’ as Bernhardt Greenlights Environmental Destruction

President Trump is scheduled to have a private lunch meeting with former lobbyist-turned-Interior Secretary David Bernhardt today, just days after Trump tried defending his disastrous environmental record after skipping a G7 summit meeting focused on climate and the environment. His lunch with Bernhardt comes as the secretary has been the subject of numerous negative headlines and scandals, including the rollback of the Endangered Species Act, the unjustified relocation of the Bureau of Land Management, continued reports of corruption and investigations, and the promotion of anti-public lands zealot William Perry Pendley to head the Bureau of Land Management.

“Bernhardt should be in hot water for his laundry list of blunders that are raising the hackles of hunters and anglers concerned about the future of America’s public lands,” said Jayson O’Neill, Western Values Project Deputy Director. “It’s clear Bernhardt’s agenda is to give as much public land away to private special interests as possible. While it may win him the favor of his former lobby firm, there is a growing concern about the future of America’s outdoor heritage that may be hurting Trump.”
